Valley's Mission Ministries

From our earliest days, Valley has been actively involved in the mission of the Church, locally, nationally and globally, both through financial support and hands-on engagement.  A portion of Valley's annual budget, supported through pledges, is allocated for this purpose. We also do several special collections, including food drives, item collections, and special offerings.  In addition to what you'll find below, we host 4-5 Doing Sundays each year, and every summer we sponsor a youth mission trip.  In 2016-2017, for the first time we co-sponsed a refugee family with Congregational Church Brookfield through Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS).
Valley supports a wide variety of mission projects locally, nationally, and globally.  Below is a list of just some of our recipients in 2013.  Click on their names to learn more about each.

Christmas Alternative Giving
Mothers' Day Alternative Giving

Valley participates in various hands-on projects throughout the year.  Below are just some of the things we have done in the last year:

Angel Sharing Tree -- gifts and clothing for children and families distributed through Brookfield Social Services

Blessing of the Animals collection -- pet food, supplies and toys for a local animal shelter

Chapel on the Green -- we make 200 sandwiches after church and then go to worship on the New Haven Green, distributing food after the service

Christmas Dinner Baskets -- distributed through Brookfield Social Services

Connecticut Food Bank's Backpack Program -- we put together backpacks at the start of the school year for children in need

Dorothy Day House -- each month we make 100 sandwiches after church to take to the shelter.  We also have members who make and serve dinners their monthly.

Doing Sunday -- for more info click here.

Heifer Animal Naming Contest -- food collection for area pantries

Interfaith Overflow Shelter in Danbury -- during winter months, volunteers help staff a local shelter for those who are unhoused.

Souper Bowl of Caring -- hunger focused with food collection for area pantries

Thanksgiving Baskets -- distributed through Brookfield Social Services

Youth Mission Trip -- each year our youth, along with several adult advisors, pack up and head to a site where they participate in building or rehabbing a home for someone in need.  It's always a tremendous experience for everyone involved. For more info, click here.
