The Art of Listening with Javor Bracic
The Valley Music Series is proud to present award-winning pianist Javor Bracic in The Art of Listening, an interactive “conversation-concert,” on Sunday, November 16 at 3:00 PM at Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield.
The Art of Listening is a special kind of concert that invites the audience to take part in discovering the meaning behind great music. It’s designed for everyone—from those new to classical music to lifelong listeners. Each program takes the audience on a journey through the emotions, structure, and story behind a musical masterpiece. This program will include a dive into the inner world of Chopin's Nocturne in C sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 1 and Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 31.
The concert begins with a “cold performance,” where Javor Bracic plays the piece for the first time without introduction. Audience members are then invited to share their first impressions and reactions. Afterward, Bracic guides the audience through the piece, explaining its emotional message, musical structure, and creative ideas.
By exploring the history, culture, and the composer’s life, listeners gain a deeper understanding of the music and how it connects to the world today. The concert ends with a second performance of the piece, giving the audience a chance to hear it again with fresh insight and appreciation.
Originally created as a series of small home concerts, The Art of Listening has since been presented at venues such as the National Opera Center, Steinway Hall, and the Yamaha Piano Salon. It has also been adapted for team-building events, music student workshops, and teacher professional development.
Javor Bracic is a pianist of deep musicality and exceptional skill. His performances are thoughtful and sincere, honoring both the music and the listener through his sensitive and intelligent interpretations. Bracic’s program promises to delight audiences of all ages - all are welcome.
The Valley Music Series is dedicated to empowering goodwill and understanding within our communities by offering free concerts featuring artists from near and far.
Doors open at 2:30 PM. Admission is free, but donations gratefully accepted. Parking is available, and the building is fully wheelchair accessible, all on one level. Audience members are invited to meet and mingle with the musicians following the concert.
